Trump’s tariffs: does he want to have the cake and eat it too?

In this third interview with our guest professor Michael Roberts, we will discuss the rationale of Trump’s tariff and analyse what seems to be a gamble aimed both at restructuring the hierarchical relations within the imperial core and impose a decoupling from China. As professor Roberts highlights during the interview, after a first announcement of blanket tariffs pretty much to all countries, including the penguin’s government of the Heard island and McDonald islands, the aim has been narrowed down and the litany we have been hearing on the media is all about China, the supposed boogie man of the world.
